Wonderful Weekend

Hello there...

My day has been super busy..hardly a moment to breathe..BUT.We have a long weekend in my part of the world so no work for me until Tuesday..YAY!!!   We'll be having some friends over on Monday for a little hang-out so part of the weekend will be spent preparing for that.

What do you have planned for your weekend?  Whatever it is I hope you have a blast and that you find some time to just relax and enjoy God's gift of life..

Today I'll leave you with some images that highlight one of my favourite colours, yellow.  There's just something about it that makes me happy:)

Until next time..Have a great weekend!

What I'm Fancying Today

Hello there...

It's been a while...hasn't it?  I hope you had a good Easter.   Our church had a retreat over the weekend and it was super.  Lots of fun and fellowship....I'm still catching up on my rest plus work has been really busy so I've been MIA.

As you may know my hubby and I moved into our house just a couple weeks ago and there is still a lot to do to make it 'home'.  One way to truly make our place feel like our home is by adding artwork that I we love and it's something that I've always wanted to do.  I like artwork that is abstract, colourful and lively.   Last week I stumbled upon Michelle Armas' blog.  In her own words she is "an artist living in Atlanta" making her first home "and painting up a storm", and what a colourful storm it is.  I must confess that I spent maybe an hour reading her blog and ogling her artwork.  Here are a few pieces that I'm picturing on my walls as I write this:

"Enero" I like the soft blues, greens and yellow in this piece, very calming

"Levitus"....I'm thinking Levitate: so light and airy...I could just drift away.....sigh!

"Rosalia": Love that this is very, very colourful

"Automatism": Love the bold colours; bright and lively (very).  Also, in the top right corner of the painting is what looks to me like someone dancing or reaching.....not sure what but I Love it.  LoL!

There's lot's more to see over at Michelle's blog

She also does calenders, posters and you may also commission her for that special piece.  Just writing this post and admiring Michelle's artwork has brightened my day.  How about you?  What kind of art are you into?

Might as well dance....

Hello there

Hope you had a great weekend.  As usual mine was packed but that's the way (uh huh, uh huh) I like it (uh huh, uh huh)..LOL.

Now that I have that out of the way, have you ever wanted to do something and felt paralysed by fear?  I hate that feeling.  Sometimes I'm fearful of how I will look or what other people will think and so I delay in trying something new.  What is so ridiculous about that thinking is that:
1. Half the time other people just don't care that much
2. In a couple days, weeks, months or years what somebody else thought won't even matter and chances are that you'd regret not going for it, whatever IT is

These days I'm learning to flex my creative muscles.  Some time back I had bought some acrylic paints and yesterday finally had some time and decided to do some painting.  I painted on fabric and paper cause I'm scared to paint on a canvas cause I'm afraid I'll ruin it!  arrgh!  How ridiculous is that huh?  I will take my own advice inspired by these thoughts below:

So, is there anything you've put off doing because of some fear you have?

Curtain Saga...

Hello there....

Well, it's Friday again!  I seriously don't know where the time goes.  I am looking forward to this weekend as I have more curtains to sew.  I cut them last night but couldn't wait to see how they would look once I put them up so I put them up before I sewed them.   The hubby was outside painting and when he came inside the conversation went something like this:

Hubby:  Somebody was awfully busy
Me: Yep (feeling smug)
Hubby: You finished sewing them?
Me: No
Hubby: (looking fairly bewildered) So you have to take them down to sew them and then put them back up?
Me: Yes
Hubby: *deep breath*

So funny.  I am so not perturbed but the curtains we  I had up before were driving me nuts: they were just not right for the space so down they came and I couldn't leave the windows bare now could I? So hopefully this weekend I am going to sew the new curtains.

This final image is from Pure Style Home I love the way that Lauren decorated her room at the DC Design house.  Since seeing the reveal I've been back (not in person, unfortunately, lol)  a good couple times just take in what she did with the room.  I would never have described this as my style but I absolutely, positively LOVE it.  The curtains are somewhat unexpected too (at least for me) but again I like them.  Check out the whole room here .

What's on your to-do list this weekend?

Reading Nooks

I love to read....You can get lost in a good book and the feeling can be like you just got a big old hug that leaves you feeling warm and happy:

(LOL, isn't this a fun picture??)

These days it's blogs that have caught my fancy but give I do love a good book.  My hubby and I just moved into our house (hee hee @ our house) and we don't yet have television 'service'.  We're in the mountains and can't pick up the national station far less cable so we're spending more time reading, which has been a blessing, I think.  I've always wanted a nook where I can curl up with a good book (or just curl up).  These are some spaces that I'm fancying:

Wardrobe Woes...

Hello there....

I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was busy but good: I had some stuff on my 'to-do' list for a while that I finally got done like some new curtains for the kitchen window.  Hopefully I'll get to show them to you soon.

On another note, lately I've been feeling like my wardrobe has been 'down in the dumps" .... some days are better than others but it takes some work to put together a decent outfit ...too much work.  I definitely think it's time for an upgrade.  When I'm well-dressed I feel great, there's a pep in my high heeled step and I feel like I could take on the world!!  I think sometimes I don't put enough effort into my preparing my outfits so I definitely need to correct that.  Of course, having a super wardrobe can certainly make dressing a bit more effortless.  Here are a few outfits I'm fancying....

And of course something smart for Fridays

What about you? What are you fancying for your wardrobe?

What I'm Fancying Today

Today is Friday!!! I love Fridays... It sure is one of my favourite days of the week (#1 is Saturday) One of my coworkers calls it "do-nothing-and-rest-day"....

Personally, that's not  how I view Fridays but today that's exactly how I feel.   Like I could be on the beach somewhere dozing

...Or maybe the hubby and I could go for a drive stopping for a romantic picnic:

Ahhh...One can dream....

This week has been fairly hectic for the hubby and me with a lot of long days .....but 'thank God it's FRIDAY' so hopefully we can get some R & R this weekend.  Here's wishing you a productive Friday and whatever you do I hope your weekend is super and you get your batteries recharged.

Bye for now

Hello There....

Hello there.....My name is Janelle and I live in a tiny island in the Caribbean.  I recently discovered the world of blogs and it is an understatement to say that I was thrilled.  I was like, "Was I living under a rock!" I couldn't believe that this world existed.   Really...where was I?  Anyway I love interior design, beautiful interiors, architecture, food, people,etc... and now I realise that I can have a creative outlet instead of driving my hubby crazy with my ideas about all the things I like or think we should try.  Even as I write this I'm scared to death cause I'm thinking.."will anybody even read my blog?" But why shouldn't we do something just because it scares us to death??

So here are some pictures of my beautiful island to get us started.
