It's the end of 2011, can you believe it?  I almost can't. Millions of people around the world have already celebrated the start of 2012 with fireworks in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands like Samoa who by the way skipped Friday December 30 so that they could be 'closer' to their main trading partners..

Later tonight, millions more will celebrate in Times Square and  at the Eiffel Tower...personally I'd love to celebrate the start of a new year in New York or Paris with my hubby one of these days.....  For now I'll be ringing in the new year at home with just a few friends and family members.

Here's wishing you and yours and happy, healthy and prosperous 2012!

How fabulous is this room?  Here's what I love about it:
1. The pink pillows,  (have a pink thing going on right now)
1. Zebra accent chairs
3. Console table and mirror
4. Neutral wall paint and white furniture
5. Chandelier

It's Tradewinds, a luxury villa located in Sandy Lane, Barbados.  Go here for more pictures and to book your stay.....Surely you can afford US$2500 per night in the low season...LOL

On another note, this Christmas season has been great but I'm exhausted.  We're hosting a small get-together  on Old Year's Night and I'm hoping to see some fireworks from a near-by resort.  I know we'll have a blast but I'm wondering how I'm going to get through the preparations...Right now I just feel like ordering some pizza and calling it a day!!..Need some prayers..

What ever you do to ring in the New Year, have fun and be safe!

I don't know about you but one of my favourite things about Christmas is the lights...Last year, we didn't really decorate but we put up lights in our bedroom....It was magical!

Happy Monday

No Monday blues for me today.  I woke up early, spent some time with God and I'm feeling perky and bright :)

Port Elizabeth, Bequia

Bequia is the largest of the Grenadine islands with a population of about 5,000.  If you've never been, December/January is a great time to visit.  You can catch their New year's Eve celebration and the Blues Fest in January with the likes of Dana Gillespie and the London Blues Band and Barbadian artistes Arturo Tappin and NEXCYX

Happy Monday

Santa's Elves have finally arrived at my office so I'm off to assist.....Two posts in one day?  Well I did say I was feeling festive!

Friday Fancies

It's the first Friday in December and I'm feeling festive!!!!!  Sequins are  all the rage this year and as one of my coworkers would say " Me Likey"...LOL.   One of the great things about blogging (esp since I don't really buy magazines) is being able to keep up with the trends so that I can keep up and stay current.  I found the first four pics via Lots of Sparkles on the berry.   The last three pics are from one of my blog friends and real-life friend Lesa Pea .  She's the one who turned me on to the sparkle trend and to say that she loves her some sparkle might be a little bit of an understatement.....Check out her Sparkle Guide and see for yourself.

I have a consultation with an interior designer this weekend and I. CAN'T WAIT.  The best part is that my hubby is the one who booked it...YAY!!

Whatever you do this weekend, have yourself a good one.

Christmas Ideas....

I can't believe it's Christmas already....Where did the year go?!?  Anyway I LOVE Christmas and I
love decorating for Christmas.  This will be our first Christmas in our new home and I'm really excited about decorating it.

I've put together some decorating ideas that are simple and easy to do..which is good cuz as much as I like the idea of decorating, sometimes the actual execution is the problem.  I haven't actually started decorating but I've taken the decorations out of storage so at least that's a start :).

Hope you have a good day today.

I love the gold accents in the photos above...I've always preferred gold to silver especially in jewelery but for interiors the challenge is classy vs trashy ...Maybe all that 80s brass gave it a bad name.  What I do notice about the rooms I've chosen is that apart from the gold, there is not much else going on so the gold accents really shine (pun intended...haha).  Needless to say I'm enjoying the current popularity of gold accents in home decor.  I have two round metal and glass side tables in my living room and I've just recently sprayed the metal base gold and I'm LOVING it!!!  What about you?  Do you prefer gold or silver accents?

P.S Hope you're having a great weekend!

Happy Weekend

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

It just so happened that I was home from work today....and I made the most of it which included cleaning some windows...whew!  I HATED it but I'm glad I have windows to clean....know what I mean?

I also had extra time for my devotions, to watch tv and read blogs...yay!!  I made dinner and AND desert which was this apple bar. I got the recipe from Sara over at Clover Lane.  I love her blog!  Anyway, the recipe is really easy and tasty and smells really really good in the oven.  I must say that I halved the amount of cinnamon but as she suggests, I too am thinking that this would be great with vanilla ice cream...yum!

Just waiting for hubby to get home from work.
Hope you had a good day today.

Multiple Seating Areas

I like the idea of multiple seating areas in a living room: a place to watch tv, a place to read or do a puzzle or just lounge, smaller groupings.  That way the whole family could be in one room together even if we're all doing different things.

I am trying to figure out having maybe two or three areas in my own living are some that caught my eye:

This Vanni Archive room is very I think the arrangement could be replicated in a smaller room, perhaps with a smaller table and a tighter furniture grouping

Loving the cowhide chairs in this Tara Seawright living room

I like the table and the tufted chair in the alcove by the window...maybe there's a second chair on the other side of the table?  Liking the gold table and soft colours of the rug as well.  Also, this picture shows that the room doesn't have to be huuuge to have more than one seating area...I like that
Room by Linda Merrill

Talk about multiple seating! Wow there's a LOT to like about this room.  The striped floors are a really nice touch
from coco and kelley

This Victoria Hagan design is fresh and white

In this living room, someone could be reading in the nook, while somebody else is on the computer and others are watching tv....Oh and I just noticed the desk behind the sofa.. AND again, this room isn't THAT large...Here's a closer look.....

Velvet and Linen

Here's my living room...excuse the picture quality but I'm thinking perhaps an L-shaped window seat under the window to the left.....or maybe I should move the chair directly in front of the mirror and replace the mirror with a round table and a chair on either side....

I guess I can dream....What do you think?

Favourite Eats….

 Pictures via here

A few of my favourite eats (not necessarily in that order):
Fried chicken
Fried chicken Oops mentioned that already
Pork ribs (any kind of pork, really)

I actually don’t eat some of these foods all that often for obvious reasons but they always make my mouth water…

Yes, I realise that there are no fruits or veges on this list but that's for another post :)

Have a great day!

Monday, October 3, 2011

I'm fancying.....

1. The pink and white palette
2. The ornate design of the mirror and the gold base on the lamps...I think they add a big punch to this vignette
3, The fact that if not for the teddy bear this could be a woman's dressing area

1. The high-back wing chairs
2. The gold legs and brass tacks on said high-back wing chairs
3. The window treatments.

Happy Monday!!
